Fried chicken and ribs were amazing! Veggies excellent. We will be back!
Delicious food, always fresh and perfectly made. Highly recommend
The food was excellent as usual. Really appreciated their requiring masks and providing tables appropriately spaced.
What a wonderful restaurant! The food was fresh and delicious, and the service was exceptional. The Southern food rivals anything I've ever eaten back home in Charleston. Don, the former owner, stopped by every table and treated everyone like family. Eat outside in the courtyard - it's beautiful!
Magnolia 23 is Southern fine dining. The fried chicken is the best food I have ever eaten. The price is so affordable and you get a meal that would easily cost 3-4 times more in a larger city. Magnolia 23 is a true gem.
This was our first time visiting here, so glad we did! We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Beautiful cozy atmosphere with quick service. Our food arrived quickly also. My food was so tasty and my husband enjoyed his as well! We will definitely be back!
The fried chicken here is soooo good! It reminds me of Grandma’s fried chicken....not to mention all the foods are things I remembered eating at Grandma’s house. Not only is the food good but it’s got a great atmosphere. The owner went around and greeted everyone eating and was so nice. This is definitely a little gem of a place in Asheboro!
Great food, nice courtyard dining and Don is a sweetheart!
True southern cooking were you can taste the love in it! The owner is so sweet and the staff are friendly. The food is great quality!
This place is literally heaven. I'm mad it took me so long to find out about it! I'm not joking when I say that the fried chicken and potato salad were some of the best I have ever had, maybe even the best ever 😮. Definitely worth a visit!
Some of the best southern cooking around! Worth the wait even if you have to stand in line for a bit. The fried chicken was delicious as well as the sides. Mashed potatoes were real, and not the instant kind. Owner came around and talked to people and was helping clear tables! Good people, good food!
Amazing food, we live a few hours away and I cannot wait to go back. Everyone ate everything on their plate. Even my 2 year old would not stop eating his mac and cheese. Highly recommend this place.
Fried chicken and Cornbread was delicious. Hubby had prime rib. He said it was very tender and good. The seasoning was a little on the salty side. Very enjoyable dinner and relaxed atmosphere. Service was excellent.
This restaurant has a wide selection of home cooked southern favorites. The food is always delicious and the fried chicken is superb. The owners are friendly and often engage their customers to ask about their experience. Magnolia 23 offers a relaxed cozy atmosphere. The homemade desserts are fantastic too. If the weather is pleasant they also offer the option of dining outdoors.
This place is awesome!! Great food & customer service!! The owner always takes time to talk to us when we are there!!!
Great food and good service. The owner/manager was welcoming and attentive. Meatloaf, fried chicken and sides were excellent. Small space with narrow passageways. Outdoor seating available.
Best food ever!! The fried chicken was outstanding and the turnip greens were fantastic. Only the fried apple pie with ice cream could top it!!
Great example of southern cooking with heart. I had the chicken and dumplings, green beans, cabbage, and corn bread. I felt I had stepped back in time and was eating a meal at Grandma's! Also tried the persimmon pudding which was excellent!
Had a bit of a wait but the food was worth it!!! The fried chicken is so good and The southern sides are very well seasoned. The owner is very personable and the price was very reasonable. Can't wait to go back in warmer weather to enjoy the outside space
The overall review score pretty much sums it up and it’s accurate! Great food and great service.
The epitome of southern comfort! We just randomly selected this restaurant while passing through on our way to Tennessee from Pittsburgh. We are so thankful that we did! The food was delicious and the sweet tea was refreshing but it honestly was the customer service that sends this place over the top. The owner takes the time to greet every table personally and was even willing to take a picture with us! If you’re looking for authentic southern cooking and being treated like family, this is the place to go!
In a word...WOW! I've heard good things about this place, so we had to try it out. Sure glad we did! Loceted right downtown in Asheboro. Menu is mostly Southern dishes, which vary each day, including nationally ranked fried chicken, catfish, chicken & dumplings, stewed beef, etc with very flavorful vegetable dishes and very tasty desserts. This place makes you feel at home in the kitchen!!Nothing but love for this place!!
Food was delicious. The atmosphere was very southern and comforting.
Excellent food and excellent service. The fried chicken was outstanding. Collard greens and pintos were cooked perfectly. Catfish was flaky and meaty. Everything is cooked fresh. The owner, Don, is a great guy. This is an hour's drive from where we live, but well worth the drive?
Great food, atmosphere, and service. Collards especially good. Will be back here next time I'm Asheboro
If you’re looking for old school, home cooked to perfection, southern love on a plate this is the place to go! Fried chicken is the best I’ve ever had! Collards and Mac&cheese were so popular they were out by the time I got there at 1:30, they’re definitely on my list for next time. The staff was amazing, the owner sat at our table to chat with us and was super sweet. I can’t wait to come back here!
Quaint downtown eatery with a simple, chalkboard meat and two, or three, menu. Quick, friendly service with average size portions. The owner made you feel welcome and could be seen often having a seat conversing with his regulars. If street parking isn't available circle around back.
We visited Magnolia 23 for the first time today. First of all, we sat outside, and the atmosphere is SO beautiful and romantic. It's like a secret garden with beautiful trees, seating and music playing. The owner is SUPER nice and walks around to greet all of the customers. I ordered the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese, cornbread, and collard greens. It was AMAZING. ALL OF IT! My 2 year old ate a kids plate with fried chicken, roll, and sweet corn. SHE ATE IT ALL. And the lemonade is the Best I've ever had. I'm definitely going back. I hope this place stays around for a long time!!
I can’t say enough about this place. It’s the only place I can say I’ve NEVER had a negative experience at! The fried chicken and fried apple pies are my favorite. We’ve always gone after church and some during the week for years. Don and Doris are so courteous and kind and really make you feel welcome! Magnolia will always be my absolute favorite place to eat in town.
Very nice place. Very good food personal service and nice outdoor seating area
This restaurant is absolutely top notch in every way possible. The environment is so comfortable, the staff and food is amazing. The owner meets and greets all customers every time I've been there and thanks us for coming. They have the best fried chicken and potato salad I've ever eaten at unbeatable prices. Definitely worth it! One of my two favorite restaurants in Asheboro.
Delicious, home style food. Potatoes and beans are real, not out of a can. Fried chicken is amazing. Our group also had chicken 'N dumplings, meat loaf, persimmon pudding, blueberry lemon pound cake, and the special lemonade. Everything was fresh and delicious.
dining outside nice clean good service food and music!
The best food ever. You HAVE to go to this place. It's amazing and the owner is very genuine.
Wanted to like this place but most of the time the place has no food in stock and food takes a long time to come out. Nice atmosphere at least but be prepared to wait.
The food was very good! We are big eaters and almost wanted to order another plate! The fried chicken was perfect!
(Everything) was GREAT...I have ate at alot of places, in and out of state. Magnolia 23 exceeded my expectations. I will be going back again & again....😁 THANKS FOR THE GREAT EXPERIENCE!
Excellent Southern Food! Driving through and wanted to eat local. Plate lunch specials offered on chalk board. Had meatloaf, potato salad, green beans, cornbread and peach cobbler. All yummy. Large Outside seating under the shade of several Lipton trees. Also dining inside shotgun building. Meet owner. He came by to say hello and ask how the food was? He stopped at all tables. Highly recommend eating here. Busy here. Full of locals.
We have been road tripping all around North Carolina and I think this has been the best southern restaurant yet. Nicest owners and DELICIOUS food. About $10 a plate.
This place has the most delicious home cooking you will ever eat this side of grandma's!! I'd eat there 3 times a day if I could!
The service, the food, the prices, the staff - fantastic!
Excellent food, great atmosphere. Just great!!
Wonderful food. Great service. Must stop
First timers, go with the fried chicken, white or dark, served perfectly cooked deliciously seasoned and piping hot as well as their wide selection of vegetables. Kentucky may have produced the Colonel but North Carolina may have a Five Star General frying chicken in Asheboro at Magnolia 23. Great atmosphere inside and out operated by a Husband and Wife team and staff who take great pride in pleasing their customers. Worth the trip.
I ordered 2 country style steaks with a side of pinto beans and a side of steamed potatoes and a bun. They said 15 minutes till ready. Was ready in 5 minutes. Super quick. Service was friendly. -The pintos looked tasted like they used a collard green recipe. Sweet..-The potatoes were plain-The Salisbury steak was plain.-the bun was good. Not much flavor in the food. Good while I was hungry.
Good ol Southern Fresh Soul Food. Great service. Delightful ownership. Inside and outside seating. Local favorite. Each day has a different menu so check the site or call to see what will be available. Eveeything has been seasoned just right. Restrooms available. Outdoor music. Cool and relaxing environment. Limited rear parking. Street parking available. You can park at the bank as well [not sure about parking during banking hours so get clarity before parking.
Homestyle cooking. Friendly atmosphere. The very best pink lemonade. Fried chicken and Fried fish is "off the chain". For Healthy meals, Grill chicken salad and fruit, so fresh. Love it!!!
Food worth the drive from Pinehurst!!! Delicious 😁
Awesome food!! They have been very consistent with quality.
The food was great and setting was beautiful. They have indoor seating as well. If you’re looking for good southern cooking, this is the place to go.
